History of the Faculty

The Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Aktobe Regional State University named after K. Zhubanov was founded in February 1978, in the same year 50 students were admitted to the specialty “Chemistry-Biology”. In 1986 the specialty “Chemistry-Ecology” was opened.

At present, 60 professors and teachers work at the faculty, the scientific potential is 50%, and more than 1000 students are studying now.

At present, the number of faculty members in the faculty are 60 people, 57 of them are full-time teachers, including 1 doctors of science, 28 candidates of science, 24 master’s degrees. The share of full-time teachers are 95%. The number of graduates from the number of full-time teaching staff is 25 (doctors of sciences – 3, candidates of sciences – 22). The proportion of full-time teachers with academic (academic) degrees and academic (academic) titles from the total number of teachers are 53%.

The number of holders of state educational grants is 149 people (15.7% of the total contingent), of whom the full-time students are 147 people, and the part-time students – 2.

At the moment the faculty has 3 departments:

  • Chemistry and chemical technology;
  • Biology;
  • Ecology.

Two teachers became holders of the scholarship of the international program “Bolashak” and passed qualifications in foreign universities (Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Great Britain).

At the Faculty 3 teachers are holders of the title “The best teacher of the university”:

  1. Kazkeev E.T. (2009);
  2. Imangalieva B.S. (2014);
  3. Makhambetov M. Z. (2017).

The nine students and a master student were enrolled under the program of academic mobility in 2013-2017.

The Faculty carries out the implementation of the outgoing academic mobility of students in the educational program of students in accordance with the Regulations on the academic mobility of students of the Zhubanov ARSU.  Kishtekenova A studied at the Sichuan Pedagogical University in 2013-2014 (China), Aldanaeva Zarina studied in Xinjiang University of Finance and Economics in Urumqi in 2014-2015.(China)  Otarova Ayazhan studied at the Technological University of Tennysey in 2014,The USA.

The Faculty trains personnel in accordance with the state license of the series No. 13014680 issued by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan on September 17, 2013 AB No. 0137431 in the two directions of higher education: “Education” (2 specialties), “Natural Sciences” (3 specialties), “Technical sciences and technologies” (2 specialties) and two post-graduate specialties of education.

Specialties of postgraduate education:

  1. 6M011300 – Biology (profile direction with a study period of 1.5 years, scientific and pedagogical direction with a 2-year training period);
  2. 6M060700 – Biology (profile direction with a study period of 1.5 years, scientific and pedagogical direction with a 2-year training period);
  3. 6М060800 – Ecology (profile direction with a study period of 1.5 years, scientific and pedagogical direction with a 2-year training period);
  4. 6M072100 – Chemical technology of organic substances(profile direction with a study period of 1.5 years, scientific and pedagogical direction with a 2-year training period).

“Laboratory of Monitoring and Protection of Biodiversity” is included the structure of the faculty from 2016-2017 academic year.

To organize the process of teaching and educating students, the faculty has a sufficient material and technical base, which is in the process of constant updating. The numbers of classrooms equipped with interactive boards are 11; four of them are connected to the Internet.

The material and technical base of the faculty has 50 audiences. 19 of these are classrooms, lecture rooms are 8, and study rooms are 7, the number of teaching and methodical classrooms is 2 and educational-laboratory audiences are 14.

The 284 specialists are trained in the specialties 5B011200-Chemistry, 5B011300-Biology under the “Serpin” program (20 from the South-Kazakhstan oblast, 15 from the Kyzylorda oblast, 10 from the Mangistau district, 3 from the Zhambyl region and 2 from the Almaty region).
